Can Stephen Fry kill a gadget?

Posted by Admin on November 27, 2008

That’s a question that the BBC tech blog is asking in this article.

The article talks in particular about Fry’s reaction to the new BlackBerry Storm on Twitter. Stephen Fry has about 20,000 followers on Twitter so when he posted his thought on the new device it was picked up and of course passed on. He didn’t like it much:

“Been playing with the BB Storm. Shockingly bad. I mean embarrassingly awful. Such a disappointment. Rushed out unfinished. What a pity.”

“Yes, I blame n’works more than RIM. Problems are terrible lag: inaccurate t’screen, awful, slow and fiddly text input. I SO wanted to like it.”

“Plus the GPS maps won’t work – issue with BIS connections. I see from forums postings this is widespread in the UK. iPhone killer? Ha!”

Given his role as the nation’s favourite, well-spoken, public school nerd. Does Stephen Fry’s response make or break a new gadget?
