SMS is the new black

A review of mass market mobile apps

Mobile payments

Mobile payment is a topic that a number of people are talking about at the moment. The GSMA is pushing for NFC, but there is some resistance to that (check out this great post from Dean Bubley). But there are other options for mobile payment.

On that front, Sybase 365 has today announced a global deal with paybox. They claim that this deal means that banks, operators and retailers ‘will be able to easily offer their customers various mobile payment services, including payments for goods and services, money transfer and mobile airtime top-up.’

There’s not a huge amount of detail about how it will work right now, but Eckhard Ortwein, CEO of paybox said: “This agreement is a natural progression of where the market is headed and what customers are demanding from their mobile phones.”
