Text to say Thanks to Disabled American Veterans

Posted by Admin on November 6, 2008

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is running a text campaign so that Americans can thanks their servicemen and women, and raise money for the care and treatment of veterans.

If you are in the US, you can text the word THANKS to 90999 and a one-off $5 charge will be added to your bill. The DAV is hoping for a million text messages to be sent (and therefore $5million to be raised).

“We are very excited to be able to use this new text messaging technology so that more individuals can easily say ‘Thanks’ to our heroes this Veterans Day from their cell phones,” said DAV national adjutant and CEO Arthur H. Wilson. “We hope that the American public will join us in this effort to send a million thanks and convey our deep gratitude to the men and women who have served our country.”

It’s another great use of SMS and a worthy cause.
