SMS is the new black

A review of mass market mobile apps

G1 day

Posted by Admin on October 30, 2008

Today’s the day for the new G1 – Google’s new phone, launched by T-Mobile in the UK. It’s going to be really interesting to see how much this device (in combination with the iPhone before it) changes the landscape of the mobile industry.

We already know (anecdotally) that iPhone users have started to use more mobile data than previously, will the new G1 users follow suit? Well the answer is almost certainly – that what the device is designed for. But for many of them, will they really know? It will mainly be used to do nothing more complex than checking emails and a bit of web browsing – activities they already happily do on their PCs and Macs. And in that regard it’s a perfect device to take consumers to the next level.

One of the great things about the iPhone is the ease with which it lets consumers use it – so far the G1 seems to be the same. Ewan from Mobile Industry Review has written a great post about the set up procedure of the G1.

Let’s see what happens.
